Thanks to each of you who participated in CELA 2011 and the National Call-in Day for Complex Rehab Technology. Your efforts made a difference. We are closer today than we’ve ever been before to having legislation introduce. The fight isn't over. In fact, it's just begun. We need the help of every consumer, clinician, supplier and manufacturer. We need each of you and all your friends, colleagues, workmates and family members to let your elected officials know that there is a problem, that is only getting worse each day, and it must be fixed. |

| Our message is simple—just 22 words. "We need Congress to introduce and pass legislation to create a Separate Benefit Category for Complex Rehab Technology within the Medicare program." This is the only way that people with disabilities will continue to receive the Complex Rehab Technology products and services they need to assure their health, function and well-being. | ||||

Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) products are defined as medically necessary, individually configured devices that require evaluation, configuration, fitting, adjustment or programming. Examples of CRT include individually configured manual wheelchair systems, power wheelchair systems, adaptive seating systems, alternative positioning systems and other mobility devices. These products and services are designed to meet the specific and unique medical, physical, and functional needs of an individual with a primary diagnosis resulting from a congenital disorder, progressive or degenerative neuromuscular disease, or from certain types of injury or trauma. We are asking Congress to create a separate CRT benefit category under the Medicare program. This would include the elimination of Medicare's "In the Home" restriction for CRT products as well as the requirements laid out by the document "Ensuring Consumer Access to Complex Rehab Technology – Requirements for maximizing outcomes".
